YorubaLanguage.org brings together what learners usually find scattered across dictionaries, videos and family memory: lessons, a dictionary that understands tone, pronunciation, proverbs, names and teachers.

Our aim is to make Yoruba one of the most accessible, teachable and well-documented languages online, for Nigerians, for the diaspora and for anyone who loves the language.

How we keep it accurate

Every word, proverb and name shows how far it has been checked. New material starts as awaiting linguist review and becomes verified only after a Yoruba linguistic reviewer approves it. Anyone can suggest a correction on any page.

Our starter content was drafted with AI assistance and is labelled that way until a linguist has reviewed it. We would rather show an honest label than an unearned checkmark.
